FLIPPED LEARNING: HOW TO TURN CLASSES AROUND

Know about the Flipped Learning model, design materials and strategies for it, and put them into practice in the classroom, acting as a guide for the group through the whole process.

Introduction:

Understanding the important of this topic, most countries have developed different models that promote the educational use of technologies based on the quality of their students’ learning. We can mention the Creative Classroom Research (CCR) project of the European Union, Educalab (Spain) within its Digital Teaching Competencies Common Framework and that of the UNESCO OREALC (for Latin America and the Caribbean) in their definition of ICT Standards and Competencies from an education perspective.

However, even when each country has defined these competencies for their teachers differently, all of them share the most important challenge for education in this new century: favouring an educational use of technology, strengthening teachers’ competencies and skills to innovate their practice, which enriches their students’ learning experience and is reflected in their results.

This challenge enables teachers to know, choose (based on their teaching decision), implement and assess the selection and start-up of technological resources that aim to achieve more enriched learning, in more motivating environments and with higher quality results for students. There is no doubt that all of this will also enrich teachers’ own practices.

Competency objectives:

The Digital Teaching Competencies Challenge proposes the development of your teaching ability to:

  1. Understand the contributions of the use of ICT based on students’ learning
  2. Choose those technological resources that best respond to your students’ characteristics and the conditions of your workplace
  3. Implement the technological resources during your students’ learning process
  4. Enrich your teaching practice incorporating new elements and strategies that promote interest, motivation and new ways of doing your classes.

Methodology:

Through a personalised self-analysis, we will analyse and propose the course that best suits you, to first work on the skills you need most to develop your teaching competencies following your chosen Challenge.

We will propose:

  • Practical case studies and different scenarios of educational practice
  • Theory relating to the subject matter
  • Proposal for application in your classroom or work environment
  • Simulation
  • Self-assessment
  • Indications, suggestions and examples to implement real practice, gather evidence and share it with other colleagues.

Peer-to-peer tutoring:

TeachersPro is designed to develop teaching skills and competencies through interaction with other peers, expanding professional criteria through effective studying and sharing of practical situations in diverse contexts.

Our great commitment is that you can share your acquired knowledge and learning with the TeachersPro community comprising colleagues from different parts of the world, that you see yourself as a potential tutor for other teachers, and other participants as potential tutors for your own training.

You can ask for help through the TeachersPro community, as well as sharing your ideas and evidence of your practice, creating an exchange of knowledge that benefits everyone.

Personalised tutoring:

If needed, you can always turn to our team of expert tutors to give you constructive and rigorous feedback on your own evidence. You can sign up for this service on the Platform whenever you need it.

Community:

You will also have the chance to review the portfolios of other teachers with whom you share common interests and share evidence of your work on the TeachersPro Platform.
