Competency Planning: Design learning experiences that leave a mark

August 25, 2025

Instituto Escalae

Have you ever wondered if your planning really prepares your students to face real-world challenges?

In the TeachersPro “Competency Planning” Challenge, we invite you to transform the way you structure your classes, so that every minute in the classroom has a clear, transversal and significant purpose.

What will you learn in this Challenge?
This challenge provides you with the necessary tools to advance the design, programming and evaluation of learning from a competency-based approach.

Through practical and reflective work, you will learn to carry out realistic planning, adjusted to the time available and, above all, focused on the real capacities and contexts of your students.

Objective of the Challenge:
Develop your ability to formulate precise objectives aligned with the purposes of learning, ensuring a true transfer of knowledge to the daily lives of your students.

Teaching competence that you will develop:
🎯 Objective statement

You will be able to define clear and attainable objectives for each programming unit, ensuring that they are aligned with the learning that you really want to promote in your students.

Skills you'll acquire:

✅ Adaptation to learning time
You will learn to design meaningful activities, adjusted to the real time available and focused on the development of essential competencies.

Practical example: Imagine that you have three weeks to address a unit on the environment. Instead of being overwhelmed with theory, you'll learn to select key activities such as debates, teamwork, and a school campaign that develop critical and communication skills. This way you can take advantage of real time with useful and contextualized learning.

✅ Correspondence with learning purposes
You can ensure that your objectives and activities are aligned with the expected learning outcomes, promoting more coherent and effective teaching.

Practical example: If your goal is for students to “understand the importance of a healthy diet,” memorizing nutrients is not enough. Learn to design activities where they plan balanced menus and present their benefits to the school community. Learning becomes applicable and meaningful.

✅ Plan and schedule cross-cutting content
You will incorporate into your planning those contents that promote comprehensive training, such as emotional education, digital citizenship or critical thinking, making them an active part of your teaching practice.

Practical example: By working on a mathematics unit on percentages, you learn to integrate the theme of gender equity by analyzing real data on the wage gap. In this way, you will be developing mathematical competence and, at the same time, critical awareness, promoting comprehensive training in your students.

Who is this challenge for?
Teachers (from early childhood education to university) who seek to go beyond curriculum compliance and want to generate authentic and useful learning. If you're worried about the real impact of your teaching and want to innovate with purpose, this challenge is for you.🚀

More than a decade ago, Bill Gates reminded us of a simple truth: no one improves without useful, frequent, practice-based feedback — not athletes, not musicians, and not teachers. Yet in many education systems, teachers still receive little structured support to grow, despite facing increasing demands, diverse classrooms, and constant change.
